
Dontá L. Wilson ‘97, currently serves as board Vice Chair. Wilson is chief retail and small business banking officer and a member of the executive leadership team for Truist Financial Corporation. Wilson is responsible for leading world-class, distinctive client banking experiences powered by innovative technology and personal service. He oversees the retail, small business, and premier segments and channels and marketing, client analytics, client experience strategy, and digital banking.
Wilson was appointed to the executive leadership team in 2016, and he has served in various leadership roles during a more than 20-year career at Truist and its predecessor. He serves on the board of directors of Signet Jewelers (NYSE:SIG). Passionate about his community, he also serves on the boards of several nonprofit, education, and community service organizations including, I Am My Brother’s Keeper inner city mentor program, and Samaritan’s Feet. He is a member of World 50/Executive 50, Executive Leadership Council, Sigma Pi Phi (Boule), and Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.
Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
Wilson was appointed to the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees in 2021 to a four-year term by the UNC Board of Governors.
