End-of-Semester Message to Students

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Students,

Whether you are graduating, continuing, or just beginning your college experience, I hope you’re feeling good about your progress this semester.

We have had an exciting and eventful year. As a student, you are at Charlotte at just the right time. Great things are happening, including:

  • Our ascent to the top 100 among public universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 rankings.
  • A successful transition to the American Athletic Conference, securing three conference championships.
  • A growing array of national accolades bestowed upon our students and our faculty and staff.
  • Projected attainment of top-tier research status as a recognized Carnegie R1 institution, enhancing the value of your Charlotte degree and contributing to the continued elevation of our university’s reputation for excellence.

I’m looking forward to celebrating with those of you who are graduating this semester at ceremonies on Friday and Saturday. A University record of more than 5,100 students have earned their degrees or graduate certificates this semester

Our spring graduates span a wide spectrum of ages, ranging from 19 to 72,  and hail from 55 countries, 33 U.S. states and 89 North Carolina counties. I’m proud of each and every one of our graduates for what you have accomplished!

I wish you a joyful and safe summer, and great success in all your future endeavors. As Chancellor, it is a privilege to share the journey with you. Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
