CHANCELLOR GABER’S 2025-26 WELCOME MESSAGE TO STUDENTS

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Niner Nation,

Happy Fall ‘25 semester! Campus is alive again, and it’s all because of you. We’re excited to have you back, with your energy and curiosity.

This fall, we’re making history again:

  • Welcoming more than 4,900 first-year students – our largest incoming class ever
  • This year’s incoming class represents 95 NC counties, 39 states, and 20 countries
  • Plus, more than 3,000 new transfer students – the most since 2016

Whether this is your first or final year at UNC Charlotte, I’m glad you are here! I encourage you to make it meaningful. Talk to your professors. Ask for help if you need it. Take a risk. Try something new. Our University is filled with people who want to see you succeed.

And speaking of success, Niners don’t just learn in the classroom. We put our skills to work. From internships across the city to the Gig Training Program, you’ve got flexible opportunities to gain experience, grow your network and set yourself up for what’s next. Make sure to schedule an appointment with the Career Center to learn more about the many options available to you.

You’ll often hear us say in the coming year, “the Difference is Charlotte,” and it’s true. This place is unlike anywhere else. Our connection to a major international city gives you access to jobs and internships, networking, culture, sports, entertainment, and more. And with a Light Rail station on campus, it’s all just minutes away.

Take advantage of all that awaits you!

As your chancellor, it’s my privilege to walk this journey with you.

Here’s to an amazing year. Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
Chancellor
