End-of-Year Message to Students

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Niner Nation,

It’s hard to believe winter break is almost here. Whether you have already finished up and departed for home or are waiting to take that last exam, I hope this note finds you well and feeling good about your progress this semester!

Later this week, I will have the honor of celebrating more than 3,600 of you who earned your degrees in summer and fall terms during Fall Commencement ceremonies. This is a special time as these graduates join the ranks of our growing Niner Alumni Network. We are so proud of what you have accomplished!

For our continuing students, congratulations on making progress toward your degree! If you haven’t already, make sure you connect with your academic advisor and register for your spring courses before winter break. This provides you the best opportunity to get the classes you need to graduate on time. Remember, in order to graduate in four years, you should take 15 hours per semester.

This is an exciting time to be at Charlotte. This fall, we continued our ascent in the national rankings, climbing to No. 81 among public universities. Since 2020, Charlotte has been one of the nation’s universities to improve in rankings the fastest, according to the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.

Our University also is making remarkable advancements growing our research enterprise, with record expenditures and innovative new partnerships that will power and reshape the Charlotte region, our state and beyond. This also is creating many new opportunities for you as a student, from hands-on research to top professors who are sharing the latest knowledge in the classroom.

Regardless of your traditions or how you celebrate this season, I hope you can spend time with those you love and come back rested and recharged for an exciting year ahead. Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
