Equity & Engagement
UNC Charlotte continued to live by its guiding commitment to lead in equity and engagement throughout 2021-22. This was evident with the growing number of national awards and rankings Charlotte received for its leadership in access, equity and inclusion.
The University showed its commitment to fostering an environment where all students, faculty and staff feel seen, respected and valued for their unique contributions in November by welcoming its inaugural chief diversity officer, Brandon Wolfe, who leads the newly launched Office of Diversity and Inclusion and reports to Chancellor Gaber.
Charlotte 49ers Athletics also reached a transformative milestone by accepting an invitation to join the American Athletic Conference and embarking on EverGreen, a master vision for athletics facilities. The 49ers also saw success on and off the field. The program won a record five Conference USA titles, and student-athletes earned 96 academic all-conference medals.
The University also rebranded as “Charlotte” to better clarify and identify its unique connection to the fast-growing region, unifying the logo to consistently use the All-in C.
