In 2021-22, UNC Charlotte continued to build on its mission as North Carolina’s urban research University, driving progress in Charlotte and beyond through programs, outreach, cultural events and community collaborations.
Businesses now have a single point of entry for strategic partnerships with the University through the new Office of Corporate Engagement, which launched in January. As an example of this expanding relationship, Amazon selected UNC Charlotte as a Career Choice Program partner, providing Amazon hourly employees with fully funded tuition for 171 UNC Charlotte bachelor’s programs.
With the lifting of pandemic restrictions, many in-person cultural events returned, raising the University’s profile as an intellectual center for students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community. In November, UNC Charlotte also celebrated its newest tradition, Niner Nation Week, making it known that this is Charlotte’s university with a series of events across the Queen City, including an Uptown pep rally.
