Record Student Success
Through significant investment in technology and personalized support programs, UNC Charlotte has realized a continued rise in retention and graduation rates. In 2023-24, Charlotte continued to enhance its award-winning Charlotte Model to expand opportunities for students, helping them thrive as they launch and build their careers.
In August, Charlotte welcomed its largest-ever first-year class and broke four records for master’s and doctoral enrollment. In May, Charlotte recognized its largest-ever graduating class and awarded a record of more than 8,700 degrees and graduate certificates for the year.
Charlotte students have opportunities like never before, with at least 80% of 2023-24 bachelor’s graduates engaged in experiential learning, including research, internships, co-ops and study abroad.
During the year, interest in studying abroad reached its highest level post-pandemic, with 662 students traveling to 34 countries on six continents. The top destinations were Japan, France and the United Kingdom.
Charlotte also continued to be recognized regionally and nationally for its innovative student success programs. For example, the University presented best practices at a UNC System financial literacy symposium, was lauded for its collegiate recovery program during a visit from a top federal administrator, and hosted the APLU Student Affairs Council Summer Forum.
The University also continued to grow its programs to support community college transfer students and working professionals, strengthening its partnership with Central Piedmont Community College and adding a new partnership with Stanly Community College.
