Beth Derrick Crigler serves as vice chancellor for Advancement. In this role, she provides executive leadership for University Advancement, including the departments of Development, Alumni Affairs, University Events, External Relations and Partnerships, and University Communications. She also serves as president of the UNC Charlotte Foundation, working with an appointed 45-member board to enhance the university’s ongoing base of private support, and works with the 32-member UNC Charlotte Alumni Association Board of Directors to expand the institution’s alumni-related programs and activities, including establishing vibrant in-state and out-of-state chapters.

Crigler was appointed vice chancellor in July 2023 after serving in the interim capacity since July 2022. Under her leadership, the University had its most successful Niner Nation Gives campaign in history in 2023, secured a historic gift from the Mebane Foundation to support literacy education and research, and raised more than $60 million for strategic priorities.

She joined UNC Charlotte in 2018 as associate vice chancellor of development. In that capacity, she helped complete the $200 million Exponential Campaign, closing with more than $218 million. Additionally, the University has continued to exceed its annual fundraising goals.

As a 20-year veteran in the development profession, Crigler has led numerous capital campaigns raising over $1 billion for charitable organizations in North Carolina. During her career, she has provided leadership for several non-profits, including Novant Health Foundation, Charlotte Latin School, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, Sharon Towers, and the Cabarrus County Boys and Girls Club.

While serving as the senior director, leadership and principal gifts for Novant Health Foundation, Crigler led capital campaigns and major gifts programs for 13 hospitals across North Carolina and Virginia. Crigler was a consultant for a number of organizations throughout the Southeast. Her expertise includes executive search, nonprofit leadership and management, fundraising, strategic planning, and organizational development Committed to the community, Beth has been involved in a number of organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors of Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership and Camp Debbie Lou, a family camp for children with cancer that she helped found. She previously served as board chair of Charlotte Interclub Tennis Association and Olde Providence Racquet Club. She has also held board and leadership positions with Charlotte Latin School, Charlotte Debutante Club and Project Life.

Crigler is a Certified Fundraising Professional and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina.
