Honoring Those Who Served on Veterans Day

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Niner Nation,

As we prepare to observe Veterans Day this weekend, I encourage everyone to take a few moments to honor the veterans who are working among us and sitting in our classrooms.

At UNC Charlotte, our veterans include individuals from our faculty, staff, students, administration and Board of Trustees. We have a proud history as a military-friendly school, dating back to our founding in 1946 to provide educational opportunities for veterans returning home from World War II. This tradition continues, with Charlotte nationally ranked in several publications, including U.S. News & World Report, for our support for veterans.

Our student-veterans, along with military-affiliated faculty, staff and alumni, bring their extraordinary problem-solving skills, global experiences and devotion to service to Charlotte, thereby enhancing and enriching their classes and this university.

On campus, UNC Charlotte’s Veteran Services Office will host its annual Military Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, November 9. All military-affiliated students, families, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

To all of the veterans among us, thank you for your service. Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
