End-of-Semester Message to Students

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Students,

It’s hard to believe winter break is almost here. Whether you have already finished up and departed for home or are waiting to take that last exam, I hope this note finds you well and feeling good about your progress this semester!

This weekend, we will celebrate more than 3,700 of you during commencement ceremonies. Graduates, you have proven that Niners are determined, resourceful and innovative. You have embraced opportunities, and I am proud of each and every one of you.

For our continuing students, congratulations on making progress toward your degree! If you haven’t already, make sure you connect with your academic advisor and register for your spring courses before winter break. This provides you the best opportunity to get the classes you need to graduate on time. Remember, we encourage students to take 15 hours per semester in order to graduate in four years, saving you time and money.

Also, take time over winter break to complete the new 2024-25 FAFSA, which will be available starting December 31. Learn about the new simplified form on Niner Central’s FAFSA updates page.

This is an exciting time to be at Charlotte.

This fall, Charlotte achieved the position as one of the nation’s top 100 public universities, at No. 96, in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best College rankings. Overall, the University climbed 41 spots and is one of the fastest rising universities in the U.S.

Our University also is making remarkable advancements in research, with record expenditures and innovative new partnerships that will power and reshape the Charlotte region and beyond. This will create many new opportunities for you as a student, from hands-on research to top professors who will share the latest knowledge in the classroom.

Great things are happening here at Charlotte. I wish you a safe and happy winter break. Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
