An End-of-Year Message to Faculty and Staff

Categories: Chancellor's Messages

Dear Colleagues,

As winter break approaches, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for the incredible work you’ve done this year. Because of you, UNC Charlotte continues to achieve milestones that strengthen our reputation and expand opportunities for our students, our University and the Charlotte region.

This year, your efforts helped propel UNC Charlotte to No. 81 among public universities in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. Since 2020, we’ve been recognized as one of the nation’s top 10 universities increasing in rankings. Additionally, our research enterprise has reached record levels, and we are on track to earn the prestigious R1 designation next year. These achievements are a reflection of your ongoing commitment to excellence.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for the opportunities that 2025 will bring. This includes the continuation of our recently launched For the Love of Charlotte campaign. The historic $500 million fundraising goal will empower student success, drive academic and research leadership, and enhance the vibrancy of our campus and community. We are already more than halfway to our goal, underscoring the belief our alumni, friends and community have in our mission.

As you take time to rest and recharge over the break, please know how much your dedication and contributions are appreciated. Together, we are building a University that transforms lives and strengthens the Charlotte region. I look forward to all we will accomplish in the new year.

Go Niners!

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber
